Safe Trick-or-Treat
As part of the campus-wide initiative to ensure a safe environment for St Louis trick-or-treaters on their Halloween trek, EnCouncil’s Community Outreach committee runs a “Haunted House”-themed game room, where children trick-or-treating on the South Forty can stop and “Whack an Engineer” in our giant Whack-a-Mole box, make candy potions in our cauldron, or enjoy many of our other Halloween games with candy and prizes to boot.
Relay for Life
With team names like “I didn’t do my problem set because I was off curing cancer” and “Engineers Gearing Up for a Cure,” the Community Outreach committee is dedicated to raising money for the American Cancer Society’s yearly Relay for Life cancer walk. In addition to having multiple sponsored teams raising funds, they also run a food-sale booth of grilled hot dogs and hamburgers, and a “Fighting back against Cancer” Rock ‘em Sock ‘em Robots competition fundraiser. The Community Outreach Committee is also home to Washington University’s “Miss Relay” pageant champion 2009, bringing in more than $300 for the team’s fundraising. Our team members need not be EnCouncil members or even Wash U engineers to join the team, so sign up today at relayforlife.org!
Thurtene
Sporting their famous Rock ‘em Sock ‘em Robots and hand-built Skee Ball machine, EnCouncil rocks Thurtene Carnival with cotton candy and prizes for the annual charity event on the Oak Walk.
