Executive Board


The 2009-2010 EnCouncil Exec Board consists of the following members:

President - Dan Brewster, Computer Science, '10

The President represents EnCouncil and undergraduate engineers to University committees, leads the other officers on the Exec Board, and runs general body meetings. The President will often meet with the head of Engineering Student Services (Dean Kroeger) to ensure that the engineering student body is being represented.

Dan Brewster is excited to lead EnCouncil for his senior year. He has been involved in the group since his freshman year, serving as Cheap Lunch chair and Engineering Expo chair his sophomore and junior years. He founded the Washington University Pops Orchestra his freshman year and was President of that group until this summer. He enjoys biking, playing the piano and cello, programming, and even reading, when he has time for it.

Vice-President - Abi Barbour, Civil Engineering, '10

The Vice President takes attendance, sends out emails, and maintains the EnCouncil website. In addition, the Vice President is also in charge of organizing leadership building exercises such as Engineering School Nerf Gun Capture the Flag competitions.

Abi transferred to WashU as a 3-2 “Dual Degree” engineering student from Hawaii Pacific University in the Fall of 2008 and will graduate in 2010. She was born and raised in Kaneohe, HI, is majoring in civil engineering and math, loves hiking, fire, and getting dirty, and wishes she could still fit black olives on all her fingers. 

Treasurer - Meghan Charochak, Chemical Engineering, '10

The Treasurer works with Student Union to ensure all of Encouncil's events and functions are funded. In addition to this, the treasurer also oversees the Engineering Projects Review Board (EPRB).  The treasurer also acts as the Seargent-at-Arms during election processes.

EnCouncil’s current treasurer is Meghan Charochak. Meghan is a senior in Chemical Engineering from Kansas City, Missouri. She loves watching hockey and her favorite team is the Detroit Redwings because that’s where she was born. Her hobbies include sewing, collecting vintage jewelry, and going to auctions. Outside of EnCouncil, Meghan is a course assistant for En120 and a member of the Society of Women Engineers.

Student Services Chair - Stephen Kuhn, Mechanical Engineering, '10

The Student Services Chair heads the Student Services Committee, which is in charge of planning and running various social and academic events open to the whole campus, while still representing the Engineering School. Their biggest projects are EnWeek (an entire week of engineering-orientated activities), Cheap Lunch (a weekly pizza lunch with cheap prices and a great chance to socialize), and Vertigo (a *huge* all out dance party).

Stephen Kuhn is the Student Services Chair for the 2009-2010 school year. He is a Mechanical Engineering Major co-oping for the fall semester at Emerson Motors Company in St. Louis. (He has also interned at Nestlé USA.) He has helped with Engineering Orientation every year since his sophomore year and co-chaired Enquest. Last year, he was the Vertigo Chair as well as helping out with many other events.He was involved in founding the Washington University Pops Orchestra, a student group on campus with which his still actively participates and performs.. He is an active cyclist on the WashU road cyling team and mountain bikes in his spare time. 

Campus Affairs Chair - Austin Jones, Biomedical Engineering, '10

The Campus Affairs Chair heads EnCouncil’s Campus Affairs Committee. In particular, Campus Affairs is in charge of organizing each semester's Dean's Forum. The broader committee goal is to mediate student affairs within the Engineering School

Community Outreach Chair - Ryan McCombe, Systems Science and Engineering, '12

The Community Outreach Chair heads EnCouncil’s Community Outreach Committee, which is in charge of corporate outreach and community service, both within the Engineering School and in the greater Washington University and Saint Louis communities. Each year, the committee organizes Safe Trick or Treat, a Halloween haunted house event for neighborhood children. They also organize the Engineering School's involvement in Relay For Life and the Thurtene charity carnival. The Community Outreach Committee also coordinates professional involvement with weekly Cheap Lunch and helps to plan for the annual Engineering Expo, an "open house" for the community to come in and be a part of what the Engineering School does day to day.

Ryan is a Systems Science and Finance double major from Yonkers, NY. In addition to his EnCouncil duties, he is a course director for EN120, a world champion competitive Irish step dancer, a licensed bartender and professional DJ. He owns and operates B&T Supreme Mobile Entertainment and Party Services in his spare time, and is an avid musician and music producer. He is also an active member of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity on campus.

 

Dutied Officers

National Communications Chair - Jeremy O'Driscoll, Computer Engineering, '12

Each year, NAESC (the National Association of Engineering Student Councils) organizes a regional and a national conference. These conferences are intended to give student councils at different schools a chance to share their ideas on how to improve their schools. At the end of the conferences, a school is awarded "Best Council,” which EnCouncil shoots for as a group every year. The National Communications Coordinator is in charge of organizing our trips to the conferences and communicating with neighboring schools.

Jeremy O’Driscoll is a Computer Engineer, currently living in Georgia. He likes video games, skiing, and dogs.

Parliamentarian - Wesley Campbell, Mechanical Engineering, '10

Parliamentarian duties revolve around enforcing and maintaining the constitution and bylaws. This includes interpretation of the stipulations and oversight of the operations of executive board, dutied officers, and event chairs.

Wesley is from New Orleans and started as a biomedical engineer before migrating back to his mechanical and aerospace engineering.  He is a course director for the freshman engineering seminar EN120.  Wesley has also had notable roles in Engineering Orientation, Vertigo, EnWeek, and Cheap Lunch. He is also a more than healthy fan of aerospace, especially commerical aviation.  At home he loves to drive and care for his family's 1988 BMW.
