About
EnCouncil is the undergraduate student government for the School of Engineering at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. EnCouncil represents the interests of engineering students and societies on issues in the School of Engineering, Washington University, and the engineering community as a whole. Additionally, EnCouncil provides social and academic programming for engineering students and strives to develop leadership skills within its members.
EnCouncil consists of 7 elected officers who form the executive board and a general body. The executive board consists of the President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Student Services Chair, Campus Affairs Chair, Community Outreach Chair, and National Communications Chair. The Student Services Chair, Campus Affairs Chair, and Community Outreach Chair all have standing committees which consist of any member of the general body or executive board who wants to attend. These committees are responsible for the events and programs that EnCouncil provides for engineering students.
Some of EnCouncil’s major events are Vertigo – a huge black light rave party, Cheap Lunch – a pizza lunch in Lopata Gallery every Wednesday, Safe Trick-Or-Treat – a Halloween haunted house for kids who don’t have a safe area to Trick-Or-Treat in, Dean’s Forum – a question and answer session with the Dean and other leaders in the School of Engineering, Engineering Expo – an introduction to engineering aimed at accepted and incoming students, EnWeek – a week long celebration of engineering, and Relay for Life – a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society.
